The Weekend Uniform

The word uniform puts men off, which is a shame, because a uniform is the most generous thing you can give yourself on a Saturday morning. It removes a decision from a day that should not contain one. The men who always look easy in their clothes are almost never improvising — they are wearing a version of the same thing they wore last weekend, and they settled the question years ago.

The knit sets the tone

Start with a relaxed knit in a light, warm neutral — oatmeal, cream, camel. Relaxed does not mean oversized: the shoulder seam should still land near your actual shoulder, and the body should skim rather than drape. A knit that fits properly is what separates comfortable from unbothered.

Texture is doing the work here, so let it. A slightly brushed lambswool or a visible rib gives the eye something to read without adding a single color to the outfit — the same principle behind layering with three tones. Trade denim for a proper trouser

The point of dressing with intention was never to spend more time on it. It was to decide well once, so the decision stops asking for your attention and you can spend a Saturday on something better.
